Other Supplies:

  • (4) small wooden or paper mache square frames
  • Wooden spools - eight assorted
  • 12” x 12” Distressed paper - tan & off-white (Basic Grey)
  • Black cardstock
  • Sewing buttons or notions - four assorted that are smaller
    than a 1” square
  • Acrylic paints - Milk Chocolate, Lamp Black, Cool Neutral, Desert Turquoise, Olive Green, Canyon Orange, Pansy Lavender (DecoArt Americana)
  • Zip Dry paper glue (Beacon Adhesives)
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • White & black sewing thread
  • Brown ink pad
  • Paintbrushes
  • Fine sandpaper
  • Paper towel



  1. Paint 1 1/2” around edge of clock with Lamp Black.  Let dry.  Paint Cool Neutral on top of Lamp Black.  Let dry.  Paint Milk Chocolate on top of Cool Neutral Let dry.  Sand surface of clock to distress it, allowing paint colors underneath to show through.

  2. Cut a 12” circle from distressed tan paper.  Sew a machine straight stitch around paper circle 2 1/4” and 1/8” from edge with black thread.  Glue circle to center of clock.  Punch out paper at center hole on clock

  3. Glue clock face centered on top of tan circle, aligning holes 

  4. Cut four 3 1/4” circles and eight 1 1/2” circles from black cardstock.  Sew a machine straight stitch around circles with white thread.

  5. Paint mini frames with Desert Turquoise, Olive Green, Canyon Orange, and Pansy Lavender.  Let dry.  Antique frames with brown ink, using a small piece of dry sponge or paper towel. 

  6. Cut four 2” squares from distressed off-white paper.  Sew 1” squares in center of paper squares with black thread.  Glue paper squares to back of mini frames.  Glue mini frames to center of 3 1/4” black circles. Glue a button or sewing notion inside frames.  Glue frames diagonally around edge of clock at the 12, 3, 6 and 9.

  7. Glue 1 1/2” black circles centered inside stitching around tan circle on clock at the 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11.  Glue wood spools to center of black circles.

  8. Attach clock movement to wood clock, following manufacturer’s instructions.
