Instructions:
- To prepare wood for painting, fill all nail holes. Use Creative Hand Sander™ with fine sandpaper to sand entire wood surface. Remove dust with paper towel or tack cloth. Use flat brush to paint only inside of Square Display Box. Let dry. Apply second coat if necessary. When thoroughly dry, use Creative Hand Sander™ to sand off portions of paint for an aged look. Spray entire box with 2-3 coats of spray varnish.
- Refer to photo for design idea. Make a paper template of the design you wish to make to put inside box. Place on foam core board and trace design with a pencil.
- Attach HotKnife Point to Creative HotKnife™. Tighten with pliers. Secure stand to Glass Mat with tape. Place Creative HotKnife™ on stand. Plug into electric outlet. Turn switch “On”. Let heat for 4-5 minutes. Practice on a scrap of foam core board before beginning project to get a feel for how the HotKnife cuts. Place foam core board on Glass Mat or hold with one hand and cut with the other. Decide which method is easier and more comfortable. Remember the Creative HotKnife™ is not only sharp, but very hot. To make a straight line, lay foam core board on glass, hold metal ruler as a guide, and pull Creative HotKnife™ along edge of ruler. Go slowly for a clean cut.
- Using the Creative HotKnife™, slowly cut the traced lines of the design. When finished, switch “Off”, and unplug tool.
- Paint cutout with various colors of paint. Use flat brush for basecoat and use small round brush for detail work. Small dots are achieved by dipping the handle of a small round brush into a small amount of paint and gently touching the painted design and lifting up. When all paint is dry, apply 2-3 coats of spray varnish.
- Use craft glue to secure foam core board to inside Display Box. Let dry.
- Use Creative Drill™ to drill holes through design and through back of Display Box.
- Thread fine wire in and out of holes for a decorative accent. Secure wire ends on back.
- Attach ribbon hanger to back with glue and small staple.
